MUSE Hi-Vision Laserdiscs, Store is Functional!

Got a few Hi-Vision / MUSE discs in stock and have added them to the goodsquid.com store. Also had Jurassic Park, Out of Africa, and Cliffhanger, but they have already been sold. With Ebay raising their fees once again (now charging a percentage of the shipping price!), I've decided to try to sell more through the website and other venues. Sorry for the slowness and bad design of the store - it's a work in progress!

Anime and Tokusatsu LD Boxes, Music, Repaired Victor VHD Player

Plowing through the hundreds of LDs and LD boxes slowly but surely. The condition of the latest haul is just amazing, most of it looks like it came right out of the factory. Here's some of the anime and tokusatsu items that I was able to take pictures of.

Lastly I got an old Victor VHD player in stock this week. The model is HD-V1. I think the HD-V1 was the higher end model of the VHD machines that Victor released. When this one arrived, it would attempt to read discs, and then get hung up and stop trying. Opening up the case, I saw that everything was spinning and moving properly, but after a few seconds, it would just stop and the eject button would light up. So I found a special screw on an electronic panel that had some little tooth-like contacts on it. These were not quite in contact with the metal post that they were supposed to be touching, so after twisting the screw around, contact was made again and the video displayed properly. I also took the time to clean the metal post off with some rubbing alcohol - figured it couldn't hurt. Here's a video of the machine being fixed.

Good Squid Hit the Motherload

First off, THANK YOU to everyone who bid on discs this week!! There still are some donation auctions running this week so the amount will increase, but at this point the donation amount to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund is $94.30. The disaster in Japan continues to unfold and people are still in need and will be in need for a long time as families are relocated around the country, starting from scratch. Hope to have another round of donations in the near future!

The second big piece of news this week is that Good Squid hit the motherload and got around 2000 discs in stock this week, most of them in near mint condition. There were so many that I had to rent out a storage container room. Many of the discs are Japanese anime and tokusatsu discs and box sets, but there are aslo some music and movies mixed in. In addition to all those discs, some models, toys, and other collector items were mixed in. Haven't really dealt with these but it will be fun to try.

Included in the motherload this week were both Time Tunnel boxes (PILF-1986 and PILF-1987), lots of Gerry Anderson items, Mission Impossible 2 (PILF-2865), Les Rivieres Pourpres (PILF-2869), The Beach (PILF-2854), Anna and the King (PILF-2843), and Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (PILF-2806).

Also picked up a couple nice LD players while I was at it - two Pioneer DVL-909 machines.

And of course, auctions continue on Ebay. This week it's all horror with the nice Zombie the Conclusion LD-BOX set BILF-9003 set included in the mix. A few highlights:
